Destination – ALASKA

We are in the long, laborious process of gathering our supplies for our first 100 day motor coach trip.  It is amazing how much planning it takes to get started.  Because we will be leaving in July and returning in mid-October,  we have to outfit for 100+ deg. weather on the start and probably very cold conditions inside the Arctic Circle in September.  Most of our reservations have been confirmed through late September, until we get back to Yukon Territory and Alberta.

We have our first maintenance training and servicing of the unit scheduled at the Freightliner manufacturing facility in Gaffney, South Carolina the week before departure. Freightliner will also be performing the scheduled maintenance on both the chassis and genset.

Once we are done at Freightliner, we will be back, have a wash down scheduled, load the final items and off on the journey, probably a day early in an effort to both beat the Atlanta traffic and arrive at Spearfish in time to rest one day before our first race. Hopefully we can pick up enough time to take in the Badlands on this first leg.
