Stone sheep come down from the rocks and feed on the side of the roadway in the early evenings.

We spotted this guy up in the rock. Probably watching his flock?
These are some of the mountains along the highway. The scenery was spectacular, with the exception of the burned-out areas
Cathy made friends with this rather large raven. She claims she did not feed it.

Cathy took a rest alongside the Athabasca River.

Look at the depth of snow on the top of these mountains!

Sunwapta Falls. I had to wait for several “beauty queens” who were climbing the rocks and taking selfies.

Cathy posed at a viewpoint on the Icefields Parkway

Since I had Cathy pose, she made me pose (under threat).

There were incredible views at every turn.

This is the trail to the Athabasca Glacier, I made it to the glacier, but Cathy (who is writing this caption) opted to wait with the “old folk”.

This bus used to transport visitors to the glacier, they don’t seem to be using it any longer.

This is an icefield caused by pressure from the flowing glacier above as it comes over cliff or edge and hits the ground below.
This is about a close as you can be to the toe of the Athabasca Glacier (off to the right) without taking a tour. It was quite a walk and climb to get to this point.

This is the headwater of the Athabasca River. You can see the toe of the glacier in the upper right in this picture.

This is the Dome Glacier as seen from the terminal moraine the Athabasca Glacier. There is a pretty large icefield near the terminus of this glacier.

A photo of the Athabasca glacier as seen from the visitors center.

These mountains emerged angled, probably from tremendous pressures during their formation.

I spotted these horns moving in the brush and upon investigation, it was a very large bull elk.

This is the terminal at the Jasper (International?) Airport.

The plane is ready for departure. (It left the next day.) Pretty good scenery for an airport.

This is the runway of the airport. If you look closely, you and see the red cans marking the edge of the level field. It is pretty rare that you can actually walk on the runway.
