Jacked up for Alaska . . .

_9DS2078Spent the week in Gaffney, SC at Freightliner’s Custom Chassis Manufacturing facility.  Two days of classroom training in the operation and maintenance of the chassis /engine / transmission package.

While there, put the coach in for its scheduled maintenance.  What better place to get the maintenance performed?  The facility was spotless and the mechanics were professional and helpful.  Got a tour of the factory, and the undercarriage of my coach, something that would be hard to do without the lift as shown.

The chassis, engine, transmission, drivetrain, axles, generator, basically everything that moves was serviced and/or checked.  I had the unit weighed, by wheel position.  Loaded, it came in at 33,000 lbs, and the loading was fairly evenly distributed.  Add a few more items, hook up the truck and we will be off.

(btw . . averaged 9.9 mpg towing a 6,000 lb truck)
